A risk is “an exposure to the possibility of loss” or as an anonymous writer described it- in almost every action we do we take a risk.

Laughing is risking looking like a fool.

Crying is risking looking sentimental.

Exposing your feelings is risking exposing your true self.

Living is taking the risk of dying.

Hoping is taking the risk of desperation.

Trying is taking the risk of failing.

We may avoid suffering if we do not take risks, but then we will not learn, feel, change, and grow.

The biggest danger in life is risking nothing.

A person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing.

What brings people to avoid taking risks, even when the risk is small and may give them something they truly want? One of the primary causes is their fear of loss, being unsuccessful, and a feeling of humiliation in case of failure. Failing- will never make you a failure unless you give up. One has not failed as long as they keep trying.

A baby for example is a natural risk taker. It never takes into consideration the outcomes of falling when it learns to walk. This is despite the fact that falling is a natural outcome of learning to walk- some call it a calculated risk. Why not adopt this approach in order to achieve other things?

If you dream to really live your life, truly and greatly, you must accept risk taking as part of the training period you must go through.

You will never reach second base if you stay on first base.

You will never find new oceans if you stay on the beach.
